The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is officially inaugurated by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Built in collaboration with over 10,000 scientists and hundreds of universities and laboratories across more than 100 countries, it represents a breakthrough in particle physics. Researchers hope the LHC will help answer fundamental open questions in physics and play a key role in searches for the Higgs boson and for exotic particles.
