Planet Earth passes a critical global warming threshold. The global average temperature temporarily exceeds 2°C above the pre-industrial average for the first time in recorded history. This happens in the same month that world leaders gather to discuss progress towards their 2015 Paris Agreement to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5C by 2100 and to act to adapt to the already existing effects of climate change. Progress is painfully slow. Will our collective efforts be enough?
